Assistant Project Manager
TOCCI has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Manager.
Tocci Construct is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of construction projects by assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent across documentation, coordination, reporting, and closeout activities.
The Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in administering submittals, RFIs, document control, and progress reporting while gaining exposure to preconstruction planning, procurement, scheduling, change management, commissioning, and turnover. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional looking to grow into full project management responsibility.

- Owners, Designers, and Subcontractors
Responsibilities:
- Submittals, Coordination & Material Flow: Manage the submittal process from intake through approval and field distribution; maintain contract item logs; track fabrication and delivery status; support interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews using drawings and BIM; develop and maintain purchase-and-delivery schedules; follow up with subcontractors and consultants to keep the project moving.
- RFI Administration: Draft, log, and track RFIs; coordinate with designers to drive timely responses; distribute clarifications to the field; ensure approved solutions are incorporated into construction.
- Preconstruction & Procurement Support: Assist with subcontractor preconstruction meetings; help define scopes of work with the Project Manager and Cost Engineering teams; support early buyout activities; contribute sequencing input and constructability reviews.
- Project Controls, Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs for submittals, RFIs, and contract documents; prepare portions of weekly and monthly reports; administer meeting agendas and minutes; issue transmittals; maintain complete project correspondence records.
- Closeout & Commissioning Support: Lead collection of O&M manuals, warranties, and as-built documentation; support inspections, commissioning activities, and owner turnover.
- Safety & Compliance Support: Participate in safety walks; review SDS and insurance documentation; assist with OSHA compliance and logistics planning; maintain OSHA-30 certification; support the Superintendent with safety records, inspections, and incident documentation.
Qualifications + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of experience in construction project coordination, engineering, or management support roles preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and document control discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management software (Procore).
- Comfortable working across multiple systems and platforms in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly Organized: Manages complex documentation and competing priorities with accuracy.
- Communicative: Clear and professional written and verbal communicator.
- Proactive: Anticipates needs and follows through without constant supervision.
- Team-Oriented: Works effectively with field and office teams.
- Curious & Teachable: Eager to learn and grow into expanded responsibility.
Physical + Travel Requirements
- Ability to navigate construction sites and perform office-based work.
- Tolerance for exposure to construction-related conditions (noise, weather, dust, etc.).
- Approximately 50% office / 50% field-based, with local and regional travel required.
