Last Thursday, I attended the USGBC MA chapter End of Summer Social. The timing of this event couldn’t have been more true to the title – after all, it did fall on the eve of the Fall equinox!

Inside the cavernous yet light-filled hall of the Seaport Hotel, people mixed stories of the year and mingled over cocktails. The crowd was a good mix of established and young professionals, so it was great reconnecting with many members of the Emerging Professionals group.

While Designers were well represented, there were many contractors and subcontractors, which speaks to the wide base that the Green Building has in Boston. Did you know that the total number of LEED sf outnumbered the sf of New Construction last year? The breadth of sustainability is working it’s into the everyday operations of our industry, a topic that Janet Field of Triumph Modular and I touched upon while I was describing our newest modular project.

Upon leaving, the chilly weather got me thinking about how we can keep our buildings warm more efficiently!
