Learning by Doing: Brady’s Role in Cost Engineering at TOCCI
Get to know Brady Coppola, a Co-Op in our Planning and Cost Engineering department. From takeoffs to bid prep, Brady is gaining hands-on experience in the foundational work that drives project success.
Who are you, and what is your role with TOCCI?
My name is Brady Coppola, and I’m currently a Co-Op in TOCCI’s Planning and Cost Engineering department. I support the Preconstruction team by performing quantity takeoffs, tracking costs, and coordinating with subcontractors, along with contributing to other critical preconstruction tasks.
What does your day-to-day look like?
On a typical day, I work on quantity takeoffs, maintain and update cost logs, and assist with subcontractor coordination—gathering pricing and clarifying scopes. I also help the team assemble bid packages and ensure that all cost data is current and accurate.
What have you enjoyed the most about your experience so far?
I’ve really appreciated the trust I’ve been given to take on meaningful responsibilities. It’s been valuable to see how early-stage planning and cost control directly influence a project’s success. The team has been incredibly supportive, and I’ve learned a lot by working hands-on with real project data and communication.
What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks?
I’m excited to keep building on what I’ve learned so far—especially sharpening my estimating skills and getting more experience with subcontractor outreach during live bid events. And of course, I’m also looking forward to a little vacation!
