Our Commitment to Local and Diverse Contracting + Hiring

TOCCI is committed to creating opportunity for people who live near our project sites, creating jobs and partnerships with minorities, women, and others who often do not benefit when real estate is developed.

To make good on that commitment, TOCCI ensures all trade contractors have diverse labor crews and embrace our compliance requirements we established when TOCCI signed the Culture of CARE pledge in 2020.

Our compliance policy meets or exceeds the state’s minimum requirements on all our projects regardless of workforce labor requirements. We are committed to this effort, and we expect our trade partners to participate in making opportunities available for all who are qualified regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or other status.

We have had great success with this effort and have consistently discovered that local companies and workers are particularly excited to work on projects that are improving “their hometown”. Their enthusiasm is a valuable resource and fuels great outcomes.

TOCCI’s Initiatives to obtain more MBE/WBE trade partners:
• Search for newly approved certified M/WBE trade partners on: Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office database, Division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance database, Massachusetts Housing and Investment Corporation’s database
• Attend trade shows for CM/GCs for networking opportunities to meet new M/WBE trade partners
• Import new M/WBE trade partners into TOCCI’s internal database

Construction Inclusion Week

Construction Inclusion Week is the first effort to harness the collective power of general contractors, specialty contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Our objective is to build awareness of the need to improve diversity and inclusion in the construction industry by providing content and resources. Visit their website here.

Culture of CARE

The Culture of CARE is an initiative created in partnership between the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the AGC of Washington to advance the construction industry as the industry of choice for diverse and talented workers by building inclusive work environments in construction firms nationwide.
