On Friday, February 6th, Tocci hosted a Men’s Health and Wellness lunch and learn to discuss specific healthcare needs that affect men.

Our guest speaker, Pat Agostino, the owner of People fit, a local health and fitness center, is a state-licensed physical therapist with over 20 years of experience. He has been interviewed by The Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, as well as by CBS Affiliate WBZ-TV 4 on a range of exercise and health-related topics and has performed many community presentations on health promotion over the past 15 years.

We learned that by making healthy choices we can feel our best at any age. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important for preventing health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and many types of cancer later in life. Eating right, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, not smoking, and drinking alcohol only in moderation can help reduce our risk for a number of chronic medical conditions.

Pat provided the group with some very insightful facts and statistics regarding the following health-related issues:

  • Benefits of exercise and the impact of regular exercise on the body
  • Tips on how to get the most out of a workout routine
  • Changes your body encounters with aging
  • Healthy eating habits and benefits

Recommendations for medical screening:

  • Physical exams
  • Dental
  • Eye
  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Prostate

Over the past few years, I have made a concerted effort to eat better and exercise more. I strongly believe that if I incorporate healthy habits into my life today, I will be improving my quality of life as I age.
