Marc Habre is TOCCI's January Employee Spotlight

“I like to think the industry chose me.”

This week, we’re spotlighting Marc Habre, TOCCI’s Director of Strategic Planning and Analysis.

His unique position touches nearly all departments at TOCCI, with his greatest focus on running pro formas for commercial real estate projects and supporting clients with market research and financial models.

He currently produces TOCCI’s monthly commodity reports and advises others hoping to gain market insight to avoid headlines and clickbait. Instead, read a CPI (consumer inflation) or PPI (producer inflation) report. He encourages tracking news from the ivory tower we call the Federal Reserve, or the “Fed” (since that sets monetary policy and influences the economy). Jerome Powell’s (chairman of the Fed) rhetoric moves mountains. Tune in when he speaks.

When asked what drew him to TOCCI, he responded, “I like to think the industry chose me – and by industry, I mean Marvin Lahoud (General Manager). I was wrapping up loose ends for a Proptech startup in London and looking for a change. Marvin pitched the idea of joining TOCCI to expand their business interests and spearhead strategic planning + analysis. Challenge accepted!”

Marc Habre, Director of Strategic Planning + Analysis

Marc’s background is in corporate finance. His career started at a holding company in Saudi Arabia, managing the wealth of the Al Hokair family. The Sheikh was a real estate tycoon with $7b in assets under management. There Marc climbed the ladder from Junior Analyst shadowing the CFO to Deputy Director of Investments. He received his CFA designation, relocated to Arizona, then moved to London to assume the role of CFO at Homie, a platform service aggregating listings from Zoopla (British Zillow) and other portals.

In telling us a bit about his story, Marc said, “I lived 30 minutes from Beirut on a mountainside overlooking the city center. I attended elementary through high school at Sagesse High School – Mary Mother of Wisdom. A good ol’ private Catholic education, where one learns the way of the necktie and blazer at a tender age. Marvin and I graduated together. I went to the US for college, but after 2 years returned to Lebanon to complete my undergrad in Finance. Then came Saudi Arabia, Arizona, London, and now Michigan, where I work remotely for TOCCI.

For enjoyment, Marc enjoys camping and hunting trips. Otherwise, fun starts in the gym and ends in the kitchen. “Food, fitness, and gardening are high on his list of “treat-yo-self” activities,” he says.
