As a member of our Health and Wellness Committee, I am always looking for fun ways to get the recommended daily servings of fruits and veggies.
During the month of October, I completed “The 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge”. The challenge was to drink at least one green smoothie a day for 30 days. The goal was not to diet or cut calories but to make healthy eating a lifestyle change. Each week new recipes and shopping lists were sent to provide endless options for green goodness. The best part of the Green Smoothie Challenge was the boost of natural energy from all of the fruits and vegetables.
I decided to drink my green smoothie every morning for breakfast. I cut and prepared all of my smoothies ahead of time, making it easy to just toss in the ingredients each morning and go. After the first week, I could not believe the drastic change in not only how I felt but also in my eating habits. Starting my day with something healthy motivated me to continue healthy eating habits throughout the day.
Not only did I start to crave the smoothies because they were delicious, but also because I enjoyed the boost of energy they provided. The Green Smoothie Challenge helped me find healthy foods I enjoyed and made it easy to incorporate them into my everyday eating plan.
