Land of Nod

Delivering a Fast-Track Retail Fit-Out for a National Brand

The Land of Nod—Crate & Barrel’s standalone children’s furniture and accessories brand—staked its Natick Mall location on a hard deadline: a nationwide “Beat the Rush” sales event that waited for no one. TOCCI had eight weeks to take an empty shell to a fully finished, fully stocked retail environment, working inside an active mall where deliveries, noise, and trade access are all constrained by the rhythms of a shopping center.

TOCCI applied Lean construction methods throughout—just-in-time material deliveries to eliminate staging clutter in the tight mall corridor, and a tightly sequenced trade schedule that kept every crew moving without overlap or idle time. GFF Architects and Hargis Engineers were coordinated through the same disciplined rhythm. The store opened on time, on budget, and in time for the national event it was built for.
