Despite COVID-19 implications, construction at Kendall East progresses nicely.
We spoke with Dan Arenz, APM, to get the latest construction update:
The 4th floor is fully decked, allowing trades to mobilize on Level 2 to begin the interior framing and rough in. The concrete ramp to the underground parking continues to progress as MEP and fireproofing are completed on both levels of underground parking. The site team is working hard to complete the Eversource electrical vault to make sure critical dates are met for the building’s permanent power.
Additionally, more site work is underway as the site team works closely with all subcontractors to organize and coordinate the installation of a site retainage system, taking up more than half of the project site. Along with the retainage system, site prep is readying for the Parcel C building.
In the next few weeks, we anticipate cutting down the site, installing rammed aggregate piers, and starting concrete work, thus getting the second building underway.
Kendall East is a 211,000 sf, 2-building mixed-use development located adjacent to CambridgeSide. The residential structure on First Street will feature 5 levels of residential space hosting 118 units, a rooftop party deck, and 2 levels of below grade parking. The second structure at 22 Hurley Street will include 18 residential units over 4 stories. An expansive courtyard will connect the 2 buildings.
