Construction Continues at Starwood’s First Element + Aloft

Construction at hospitality development in Lexington

Tocci continues construction on two prototype hotels for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide on the former Sheraton Inn in Lexington.

The hotels, Aloft and Element, house 136 and 123 keys respectively.

Aloft is designed to meet desire for a fresh, fun and stylish hotel experience with cool social amenity. Aloft offers high-ceilinged loft style rooms fit-out in natural materials, enhanced technology services, pumped-up fitness facilities and social spaces ranging from quiet green space gathering spots to hip lounge areas. The concept brings Starwood™’s upscale style to the select-service market. The Lexington Aloft, designed by Fruchtman Associates Architects, is a 4-story, 66K sf block and plank construct.

Element is an extended stay brand enhanced by luxury finesse. Rooms feature gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliances and pantries and compartmentalized closets for assorted shoe and garment types. Communal areas incorporate sustainable design elements such as multi-story window walls that bathe common areas in natural light, lobby water features, green courtyards and patios, ergonomic furnishings and laundry facilities designed to minimize pollution and promote water conservation. The Lexington Element, designed by Costas, Kondylis and Partners, is a 4-story, 78K sf wood framed construct, and is in the process of becoming a LEED Certified Building.

Tocci is utilizing BIM, building information modeling, to facilitate an easy transition from prototypical design to construction and assure on-time delivery. Tocci Building Construction will complete the campus in late Spring of 2008.
