Woburn, MA (September 15, 2020) With social distancing and safety regulations now the norm, volunteer opportunities are looking a little different. This month Tocci volunteers undertook their first virtual volunteer event, leading a mock interview workshop via Zoom for Project Hope’s Administrative Jobs in Healthcare Workforce Development Program.
This is Tocci’s second year joining the Project Hope workshop. This 6-week long program provides participants with job placement assistance and employment coaching to successfully find jobs in healthcare. Technical training includes workshops on medical terminology, computer software, and privacy laws, while the mock interviews and customer service lessons develop the soft skills needed to succeed in their job search.
Tocci volunteers were matched with a partner and given 15-20 minutes to lead a mock interview and provide feedback. The workshop consisted of two rounds, allowing participants to practice with two volunteers and utilize feedback to improve each round. Project Hope scheduled a second session of interviews this week, so participants can practice with a new group of volunteers.
The one-on-one connection paired with helping someone improve their interview skills creates a very rewarding experience for our team.
Typically the participants are quite nervous, and often they just need a a confidence boost. It is fantastic to provide an opportunity to practice and receive feedback so they can thrive when it comes time for the real deal. After giving some tips and praise on their performance, they seem so relieved and appreciative. It is really great to be a part of something so constructive. – Casey Carbone
Tocci is pleased to continue supporting local non-profits and volunteer opportunities throughout the pandemic, even in a digital fashion. This is Tocci’s 4th event with Project Hope and we look forward to continue supporting their efforts.
