Mock Interview Workshop at Project Hope

Woburn, MA (October 23, 2019) Tocci Building Corporation returned to Roxbury to lead a Mock Interview Workshop as part of Project Hope’s “Tracks to Employment” Workforce Development Program. Tracks to Employment is a 3-week long workshop focusing on participants who experience multiple barriers to sustainable employment. The program aims to provide participants with technical and soft skills to aid their search for employment.

Tocci volunteers were matched with a partner and given 15-20 minutes to lead a mock interview, complete with a question and feedback period. The workshop consisted of four sessions, allowing participants to practice with multiple volunteers and utilize their feedback to improve each round.

As part of the program, participants completed a Dress to Impress workshop immediately before the mock interviews. Program leaders taught mini lessons on how to dress for a professional environment, and helped the women select professional outfits from a large selection of donated items. Additional workshops were also held to provide training on the makeup of a successful interview.

These various workshops ultimately sought to prepare participants for a job fair hosted by Project Hope the following day. Multiple local companies were invited to the shelter to interview candidates to match them with potential job opportunities.

For the Tocci team, this was a special volunteer opportunity.

It was heartwarming to mentor a few of these ladies at Project Hope on their pre-interview day. One woman touched my heart so much it brought me to tears. I wish nothing but the best of luck to these fantastic ladies on their job interviews. Everyone deserves hope to move up and out of poverty. – Tammi Gott

It was incredibly rewarding for the volunteers to see the women leave the session more confident and ready to tackle the job fair. Tocci looks forward to continuing their work with Project Hope and facilitating future mock-interview workshops.
