The Scoop: WBA Network Gathering

The Woburn Business Association (WBA) and the Woburn Public Library Foundation (WPLF) joined for a networking and info session about the library’s expansion. John Tocci opened the evening thanking Michael Meaney, Executive Director of WBA, and remembering his late father, Paul Meaney, long time Director who was instrumental in helping Tocci successfully navigate the permitting process after purchasing the Guastavino Tile Factory at 660 Main Street.

During the Q+A many questions were answered regarding the architect selection, construction schedule, and financing. People in attendance touted the economic and cultural benefits to Woburn of a restored architectural icon and an addition with flexible spaces for community gatherings and educational workshops for all ages. WPLF Director Connie McGilvary described an upcoming library fundraising event with author Anthony Amore, Director of Security at Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum on April 14th. “Mr. Amore will regale the audience with tales of daring art thefts and scams that cost millions.”

Andrea Bunker, Assistant Director at the Woburn Public Library said:
“We are grateful to the WBA and Tocci Building Companies for the opportunity to showcase the plans for our expanded and renovated Library and discuss the funding needs of the project that remain. The event was a wonderful way for us to connect with Woburn’s business community, answer their questions, and discuss the positive impact our project will have in our City.”
