Project Manager/Healthcare

The Project Manager is a key team member charged with setting the mission and executing the strategy for CM and Design/Build projects. The successful candidate will play a principal role on the preconstruction planning team from project ignition to commissioning. He/she will synthesize the expertise of clients, designers, consultants, superintendents and subs into the central ‘hub’ of a virtual construction model. This model becomes a management tool to control data and team commitments. Project leadership includes providing total focus for Assistant Project Managers, Support Staff and subcontractor partners to achieve no-excuse, promise-keeping performance.

Positions are available at the Woburn (Boston) MA headquarters office. Project values range from $10 – $125M and include urban and suburban hotel, office, mixed-use, healthcare, multi-family work in the Northeast. Some regional travel may be required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide preconstruction leadership and support for VDC staff
  • Participate in the company’s evolution toward LEAN Construction
  • Manage project controls and metrics with field staff to aggressively track, control and deliver results
  • Purchase major contracts and insure prompt buy out
  • Lead weekly Owner/Architect project meetings
  • Minimize RFI’s, issues and change order’s through aggressive intervention and collaboration. The goal is the eventual elimination of all non-elective change orders
  • Troubleshoot problems and drive weekly performance improvement
  • Compile and publish comprehensive monthly progress reports that measure actual performance
  • Coordinate with municipal, state and other authorities to assure that construction meets code and that all permits including occupancy permits are obtained on-time
  • Assure project delivery in accordance with all promises
  • Dare to exceed expectations

Education, Experience & Knowledge and other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in civil engineering, construction management or related field
  • Seven (7) to twenty (20) years of related experience
  • Expertise with Prolog Manager, MSOffice, Timberline and SureTrack (or equivalent systems)
  • BIM knowledge of or strong desire to learn either Revit, Graphisoft, Bentley Microstation, Navisworks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction and inspire excellent performance
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate consequences and trends, face challenges head-on and quickly troubleshoot team, product or resource issues with appropriate and innovative solutions
  • Proven ability to make the right decisions under pressure
  • Proven ability to negotiate with directness and skill in tough situations with both internal and external groups without rupturing relationships
  • Excellent references attesting to high level of energy, can-do attitude, history of achievement and co-worker respect
  • Demonstrated character/integrity: the ability to support the company, its values, and fellow employees while maintaining a constant focus on exceeding customer requirements and expectations
