National Yiddish Book Center

The National Yiddish Book Center, an antiquarian Yiddish book repository and ethnic museum, is home to the largest Jewish cultural organization in the United States. Built in a carefully preserved apple orchard, the intimate cluster of clapboard sheathed structures equally amplify the bucolic setting and evoke the 19th century charm of a Jewish shtetl. Cedar shingled hipped roofs and wood clad windows compliment the folkloric exterior. Inside custom glulam beams, glass walls, skylights and artisan light fixtures punctuate modern airy space. The center, an AGC Build Massachusetts Performance Award recipient, houses a climate-controlled library, hi-tech security-oriented shipping and handling area, 150 seat theater, public reading room, exhibit and function space, catering kitchen, gift shop and administrative offices.
